Everything you can add with motion

With FeatPaper’s motion editor, you can put a video, a form, a booking page, a live spreadsheet, or a clickable link on any page of a PDF document. Viewers use them right inside the document when they open your shared link. This page lists everything you can add, which tab to use, and the exact link each service needs.

If you want to embed YouTube in a PDF, add a Google Sheet to a pitch deck, or let prospects book a call from a sales deck or proposal, start here.

The motion editor has six tabs. Each one places a different kind of element on the page.

A few details per type:

  • VIDEO: Upload one video file at a time, or paste a YouTube or Vimeo link. Options: Autoplay (on by default), Loop (on), Mute (off), and Hide Controls (off). You can toggle them with icons after placing the video. On mobile, autoplay is always muted.
  • GIF: A pasted GIF link is re-hosted by FeatPaper.
  • LINK: The area blinks once when the page opens, so viewers notice it. It opens a popup on desktop and a new tab on mobile. mailto: and tel: links work. You can round the corners with a slider.
  • NAV: Works as an internal link in the downloaded PDF too.
  • DOCS: On desktop, the other document slides in from the left. On mobile, it slides up with a NEW TAB option.

YouTube and Vimeo go in the VIDEO tab. Everything else goes in the EMBED tab.

Open the Content tab

Open the document and go to the Content tab. Only people with edit rights see the motion tools.

Open the motion editor

Click the Add video or link card.

Pick a page and a tab

Select the page in the left sidebar, then click VIDEO, GIF, EMBED, LINK, NAV, or DOCS.

Paste the link and add it

Paste the link into the field (Embed URL on the EMBED tab) and click Add. On the EMBED tab you can also paste a whole iframe code. FeatPaper takes the link from src="…" and adds https:// when the link has none.

Position and resize

Drag to move, drag the handles to resize. An embed starts at half the page width in 16:9 with the ratio unlocked. A video starts the same size with the ratio locked.

Save

Click SAVE & EXIT.

When a frame is selected, you can use the delete, lock ratio, unlock, and original ratio buttons. Keyboard shortcuts:

  • Arrow keys nudge the selected element. Hold Shift to move 10 times farther.
  • Backspace deletes it.
  • Ctrl/Cmd+Z undoes. Ctrl/Cmd+C and Ctrl/Cmd+V copy and paste (the copy lands slightly offset).
  • With nothing selected, arrow keys change the page.
  • Desktop: Embeds and videos play inside the page, right where you placed them.
  • Mobile: An embed shows as a blurred card. Tapping it opens the tool full screen in a bottom sheet. Lottie animations are the exception: they play inline with no card. Videos play in the page, and autoplay is muted.
  • Downloaded PDF: A PDF can’t play VIDEO, GIF, or EMBED elements. FeatPaper replaces each one with a thumbnail or the service logo that links to that page in the reading view, and adds a QR code at the bottom right of the page. If the document’s QR setting is off, the QR code isn’t added.
  • LINK and NAV work in the downloaded PDF as well.

Motion is available on every plan. Only uploaded video files and images added in the GIF tab count toward a limit. YouTube, Vimeo, and every EMBED have no count and no size limit on any plan.

The DOCS type needs the Pro plan or above.

  • Tracked: clicks on LINK and DOCS elements. You find them under Click Actions in the visitor detail. Page reading time is tracked as usual.
  • Not tracked: plays inside YouTube, Vimeo, or any embed, and NAV jumps.

If you need to know whether someone clicked through to a tool, add a LINK area next to the embed.

  • The editor checks only the link format. Whether the content shows depends on the tool’s own sharing settings. A private Google Doc, for example, shows Google’s error inside the frame.
  • After a version update, motions don’t carry over automatically. When you open the editor after an update, FeatPaper asks whether to copy the previous version’s motion content. Copied motions keep the same pages and positions.
  • Anyone who can open your shared link can see what you embed, so share only what every viewer should see.
How do I add a service that isn't on this list?

Use LINK. Draw a clickable area and paste the service’s URL. Generic websites, Notion, Miro, and Spotify albums or podcasts can’t be embedded yet, but a LINK opens them and records the click.

The editor says my link isn't supported. What is wrong?

The link isn’t in a format that tab accepts. Check the table above. YouTube and Vimeo must go in the VIDEO tab, and some services need a specific link, such as the Google Maps embed link.

Can I put YouTube in the EMBED tab?

No. YouTube and Vimeo belong in the VIDEO tab. The EMBED tab rejects them.

How do embeds look on a phone?

They show as a blurred card. Tapping the card opens the tool full screen. Lottie animations play inline instead.

What happens when someone downloads the PDF?

Videos, GIFs, and embeds become a thumbnail or logo that links to the reading view, and a QR code is added to the page. LINK and NAV keep working in the PDF.

Do YouTube links or embeds count toward my plan limit?

No. Only uploaded video files and GIF-tab images count. YouTube, Vimeo, and embeds are unlimited on every plan.

Can I see who played my video or filled in my form?

No. FeatPaper doesn’t track what happens inside a video or embed. Check the tool itself for responses or bookings. FeatPaper records LINK and DOCS clicks and page reading time.

  • YouTube and Vimeo go in VIDEO. Forms, calendars, sheets, designs, music, demos, and maps go in EMBED.
  • Embeds and YouTube or Vimeo links are free of count and size limits on every plan.
  • On mobile, embeds open full screen from a card. In a downloaded PDF, they become a link plus a QR code.
  • Only LINK and DOCS clicks are tracked.
