Embed a SoundCloud track in a PDF
Yes, you can embed a SoundCloud track in a PDF with FeatPaper. Paste the track link into the EMBED tab and FeatPaper shows SoundCloud’s visual player on the page. The track starts playing on its own when the player loads.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”- A demo or pitch for a label, festival or agency
- A portfolio PDF for a composer or sound designer
- A podcast sponsor deck with a sample episode clip
- A brand deck that introduces a sonic logo or jingle
Get the link ready
Section titled “Get the link ready”Use the link to a single track:
https://soundcloud.com/XXXXXXXX/XXXXXXXX- Open the track on SoundCloud.
- Click Share.
- Copy the track link.
The track must be public for others to play it. Private tracks shared with a secret link may not play, so use a public track. SoundCloud’s help center covers embedding. See Official guides below.
Add it in FeatPaper
Section titled “Add it in FeatPaper”Open the Content tab
Open your document in FeatPaper and go to the Content tab. Only people with edit rights see the editor.
Open the editor
Click the Add video or link card. The motion editor opens full screen.
Pick the page and the EMBED tab
Select the page in the left sidebar, then click EMBED in the toolbar.
Paste the SoundCloud link
Paste the link into the Embed URL field and click Add. FeatPaper sets it up as SoundCloud’s visual player with autoplay turned on.
Place and resize it
The player lands in the middle of the page at half the page width, in a 16:9 frame. Drag it to move it and drag the handles to resize. The ratio isn’t locked, so you can make it taller or wider.
Save
Click SAVE & EXIT.
What viewers see
Section titled “What viewers see”- Desktop: SoundCloud’s visual player sits on the page with the track artwork. The track is set to autoplay, though the browser may wait for a click before sound starts.
- Mobile: On a phone, the SoundCloud area shows as a blurred card. Tapping it opens SoundCloud full screen in a bottom sheet, so it stays usable on a small screen.
- Downloaded PDF: A PDF can’t run an embed. FeatPaper puts the SoundCloud logo in its place, linked to that page of the shared link, and adds a QR code at the bottom right of the page. If you turn off the document’s QR setting, the QR code isn’t added.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Embeds don’t count toward any plan limit and have no size limit. You can use them on every plan, Starter included.
- FeatPaper checks only the link format when you click Add. Whether content appears depends on the sharing settings in SoundCloud.
- You can also paste iframe embed code. FeatPaper pulls out the
src="…"address, as long as it uses double quotes. - After a version update, motions don’t carry over on their own. When you open the editor, FeatPaper asks whether to copy the previous version’s motion content to the same pages and positions.
- Autoplay is always on for SoundCloud. Put the player on the page where sound makes sense, not on the cover.
- If you want several songs, add one embed per track.
Frequently asked questions
Section titled “Frequently asked questions”I pasted the link and got "The embed URL is not supported". What should I check?
The link isn’t in a format FeatPaper accepts for SoundCloud. Go back to SoundCloud and copy the link described in Get the link ready above, then paste it again.
How does it look on a phone?
Viewers see a blurred card on the page. One tap opens SoundCloud full screen in a bottom sheet.
What happens if someone downloads the PDF?
The embed can’t play inside a PDF. The SoundCloud logo takes its place and links to that page of the shared link, and a QR code appears at the bottom right of the page.
Can I turn off autoplay?
Not in FeatPaper. SoundCloud embeds always use the autoplay setting. Place the track on a page where viewers expect audio.
Can I embed a SoundCloud playlist?
Playlist links (/sets/) may not map correctly. Add single tracks instead.
