Embed a Figma prototype in a PDF
Yes, you can embed a Figma prototype in a PDF with FeatPaper. Paste the Figma link into the EMBED tab and FeatPaper turns it into Figma’s embed player. Viewers click through the real prototype on the page instead of reading static screenshots.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”- A design proposal where the client clicks through the flow before the review call
- A product pitch deck with a working prototype on the demo slide
- A UX case study in a portfolio PDF
- A handoff document that keeps the latest design one click away
Get the link ready
Section titled “Get the link ready”FeatPaper accepts Figma links that start with https://www.figma.com/ followed by file, design, proto or embed:
https://www.figma.com/proto/XXXXXXXX/XXXXXXXX?...https://www.figma.com/design/XXXXXXXX/XXXXXXXX?...The www. is required. FeatPaper converts the link to Figma’s embed player for you.
- Open the file or prototype in Figma.
- Click Share.
- Set link access so that anyone with the link can view.
- Copy the link. For a clickable flow, copy the prototype link from presentation view.
Figma’s own help center explains sharing and embedding in detail. See Official guides below.
Add it in FeatPaper
Section titled “Add it in FeatPaper”Open the Content tab
Open your document in FeatPaper and go to the Content tab. Only people with edit rights see the editor.
Open the editor
Click the Add video or link card. The motion editor opens full screen.
Pick the page and the EMBED tab
Select the page in the left sidebar, then click EMBED in the toolbar.
Paste the Figma link
Paste the link into the Embed URL field and click Add. FeatPaper converts it to Figma’s embed player automatically.
Place and resize it
The prototype lands in the middle of the page at half the page width, in a 16:9 frame. Drag it to move it and drag the handles to resize. The ratio isn’t locked, so you can make it taller or wider.
Save
Click SAVE & EXIT.
What viewers see
Section titled “What viewers see”- Desktop: The Figma player sits on the page. For a prototype link they can click hotspots and move through screens.
- Mobile: On a phone, the Figma area shows as a blurred card. Tapping it opens Figma full screen in a bottom sheet, so it stays usable on a small screen.
- Downloaded PDF: A PDF can’t run an embed. FeatPaper puts the Figma logo in its place, linked to that page of the shared link, and adds a QR code at the bottom right of the page. If you turn off the document’s QR setting, the QR code isn’t added.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Embeds don’t count toward any plan limit and have no size limit. You can use them on every plan, Starter included.
- FeatPaper checks only the link format when you click Add. Whether content appears depends on the sharing settings in Figma.
- You can also paste iframe embed code. FeatPaper pulls out the
src="…"address, as long as it uses double quotes. - After a version update, motions don’t carry over on their own. When you open the editor, FeatPaper asks whether to copy the previous version’s motion content to the same pages and positions.
- The embed shows the current state of the Figma file. Changes you make in Figma appear without re-adding the link.
- A prototype needs room to be usable. Make the frame larger than the default if your screens are dense.
Frequently asked questions
Section titled “Frequently asked questions”I pasted the link and got "The embed URL is not supported". What should I check?
The link isn’t in a format FeatPaper accepts for Figma. Go back to Figma and copy the link described in Get the link ready above, then paste it again.
How does it look on a phone?
Viewers see a blurred card on the page. One tap opens Figma full screen in a bottom sheet.
What happens if someone downloads the PDF?
The embed can’t play inside a PDF. The Figma logo takes its place and links to that page of the shared link, and a QR code appears at the bottom right of the page.
Do viewers need a Figma account?
That depends on the file’s share setting in Figma. With link access set so anyone with the link can view, the design opens for them. Check Figma’s sharing guide for your plan’s options.
My link starts with figma.com without www. Will it work?
Add www. to the front, so the link starts with https://www.figma.com/. FeatPaper accepts only that form.
