Embed a Google Map in a PDF

Yes, you can put a live Google Map inside a PDF document with FeatPaper. Use the EMBED tab and paste the embed link from Google Maps. Viewers can pan and zoom the map right on the page instead of looking at a flat screenshot.

  • An event invitation that shows exactly where the venue is
  • A company overview with your office or showroom location
  • A real estate or site proposal where the location is the point
  • An onboarding doc that tells new hires how to find the office on day one

FeatPaper accepts only the embed link that Google Maps gives you under Share → Embed a map. It looks like this:

https://www.google.com/maps/embed?pb=...
  1. Find the place in Google Maps.
  2. Click Share, then choose Embed a map.
  3. Google shows an HTML snippet. Copy the address inside src="…", or copy the whole snippet. FeatPaper can read the src out of it.

Google’s help page walks through the Embed a map option step by step. See Official guides below.

Open the Content tab

Open your document in FeatPaper and go to the Content tab. Only people with edit rights see the editor.

Open the editor

Click the Add video or link card. The motion editor opens full screen.

Pick the page and the EMBED tab

Select the page in the left sidebar, then click EMBED in the toolbar.

Paste the Google Maps link

Paste the link into the Embed URL field and click Add. If you copied the full HTML snippet, paste it as is.

Place and resize it

The map lands in the middle of the page at half the page width, in a 16:9 frame. Drag it to move it and drag the handles to resize. The ratio isn’t locked, so you can make it taller or wider.

Save

Click SAVE & EXIT.

  • Desktop: The map sits on the page and works like the Google Maps they know. They can drag, zoom and open it in Google Maps.
  • Mobile: On a phone, the Google Maps area shows as a blurred card. Tapping it opens Google Maps full screen in a bottom sheet, so it stays usable on a small screen.
  • Downloaded PDF: A PDF can’t run an embed. FeatPaper puts the Google Maps logo in its place, linked to that page of the shared link, and adds a QR code at the bottom right of the page. If you turn off the document’s QR setting, the QR code isn’t added.
  • Embeds don’t count toward any plan limit and have no size limit. You can use them on every plan, Starter included.
  • FeatPaper checks only the link format when you click Add. Whether content appears depends on the sharing settings in Google Maps.
  • You can also paste iframe embed code. FeatPaper pulls out the src="…" address, as long as it uses double quotes.
  • After a version update, motions don’t carry over on their own. When you open the editor, FeatPaper asks whether to copy the previous version’s motion content to the same pages and positions.
  • The map shows the view you chose when you copied the embed link. To change the zoom or the place, copy a new embed link and replace the old one.
  • If you just want a clickable address that opens Google Maps, a LINK area with a normal share link is enough, and its clicks are recorded.
I pasted the link and got "The embed URL is not supported". What should I check?

The link isn’t in a format FeatPaper accepts for Google Maps. Go back to Google Maps and copy the link described in Get the link ready above, then paste it again.

How does it look on a phone?

Viewers see a blurred card on the page. One tap opens Google Maps full screen in a bottom sheet.

What happens if someone downloads the PDF?

The embed can’t play inside a PDF. The Google Maps logo takes its place and links to that page of the shared link, and a QR code appears at the bottom right of the page.

Can I use the short maps.app.goo.gl link?

No. FeatPaper accepts only the embed link from Share → Embed a map, which starts with https://www.google.com/maps/embed?pb=.

Can I show directions or several pins?

FeatPaper shows whatever Google puts in the embed link. For anything Google’s Embed a map option doesn’t offer, a LINK to a saved Google Maps list is the simpler route.
