Install the add-on once, and you can turn the post, flyer, or deck on your canvas into a FeatPaper document without downloading a file first. Making something and sharing it happen on the same screen, so a piece can go out the moment it is done.

What is the Adobe Express add-on?

The Adobe Express add-on sends content you built in Adobe Express to FeatPaper. Social posts, flyers, presentations, and more become shareable documents right away, with no separate download.

The add-on works on every plan, including the free Starter plan. All you need is edit access to the target folder in your space.

Reach it right from My Documents

Open a folder in My Documents that has no documents yet. Figma, Adobe Express, and PowerPoint icons appear below the upload area in the center. Click the Adobe Express icon to jump to the Add-ons install page below.

These icons show up only when the folder is empty. In a folder that already holds documents, use the install link below instead.

How to use it

Prepare your content

Finish the piece you want to send in Adobe Express.

Run the add-on

Click the FeatPaper add-on in the sidebar to launch it.

Sign in

Sign in with your FeatPaper account. Skip this step if you are already signed in.

Pick a folder

The Home tab lists your FeatPaper folders. Open the one that will hold the document.

You cannot switch spaces from the add-on. It uses whichever space you last opened in the dashboard, so switch there first. Shared folders you have no edit access to show greyed out, and clicking one returns “You do not have edit permission for this folder.”

Click Create Interactive PDF

A dialog asks for the file name, prefilled with your Express document title. Confirm it and the conversion starts.

Watch it run, then collect the link

A progress bar walks through each stage. Cancel stops it, and a cancelled run costs you nothing against your monthly upload count.

When it finishes you get a thumbnail, the share link with a copy button, and View details.

• Shared folders you have no edit access to still show in the list, greyed out. Click one and you get “You do not have edit permission for this folder.”
• A document you send into someone else’s folder counts against the plan of the space that folder belongs to.
• The FeatPaper add-on installs on both free and paid Adobe Express accounts. But one Adobe premium asset anywhere in the design stops the export cold — see When a free Adobe account blocks the export.

Ways to use this

Adobe Express is where you make it and FeatPaper is where you send it and watch it, so the trick is joining the two without switching screens.

Run a review the moment the design is done

• Situation — a card-news or flyer mockup needs sign-off from the team and the client, and downloading loose images to drop into a messenger is tedious.
• Setup — open the FeatPaper add-on in the editor sidebar, pick a folder, and click Create Interactive PDF. Multiple pages keep their order as document pages, and you pass along the general share link from the Share tab.
• What you get — one link shows everything in sequence, and who got as far as which mockup is recorded in document analytics. Recipients open it in a browser with no sign-up or login.

Collect contacts from material on your website, and keep the link when you revise it

• Situation — you want a flyer or newsletter on your website to leave you the viewer’s contact details, and you are worried about re-announcing the address when the content changes.
• Setup — attach a lead form to the document and publish the Info-required link (every plan). After a revision, click that document on the add-on’s Home tab and hit Update on the row.
• What you get — reading the material requires leaving contact details, and those contacts collect on the Viewers tab and in the Contacts card on Home. The published address never changes, so the website needs no edit. Click Create Interactive PDF again and you get a second document on a different address.

Download image files and send them and you never learn whether they were opened, and the pages scatter. Send a link and the page order holds, the open and per-page dwell time are recorded, and you can deactivate that one link whenever you need to.

The Home and Insert tabs, and three actions per document

Once you sign in, the panel splits in two.

• Home — your FeatPaper folders and documents. Click a document to open its row, where Share, Update, and Import sit. Click it again to close the row.
• Insert — where you drop a video or outside content onto an Express slide first.

To build a new document, open the folder you want and click Create Interactive PDF at the bottom.

You can also open FeatPaper from the Adobe Express share menu — a second way in, alongside the add-on sidebar in the editor.

Revising a piece without changing the link

To keep one link pointing at the current design, use Update.

Find the document on the Home tab

Locate the document you sent earlier and click it to open its row.

Click Update

Click Update, confirm the file name, and the same progress screen runs.

Done

The share link and every view recorded so far carry over untouched. You never leave the Express editor.

The Insert tab — video and outside content

For something that moves, you don’t need the dashboard — put it in from the add-on.

Paste a YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, Calendly, Canva, Figma, Arcade, Tally, Typeform, Lottie, and Google Maps, Sheets, and Forms link on the Insert tab, or switch to Insert from This Device and pick an MP4 or GIF. Preview it, then Insert, and it joins the design as a new slide. Once the piece goes out, all of it plays in the viewer.

Playback settings — Autoplay, Loop, Muted, Hide controls — sit under the preview. They apply to video only. A GIF is inserted with none of them attached, so setting the switches before you insert one has no effect on the result.

Video and GIFs you placed in Express yourself come through the same way.

There is a per-document cap on videos and GIFs: 3 on Starter, 5 on Pro, unlimited on Business and Enterprise. Going over it fails in a way worth understanding, because nothing on screen tells you.

The export still succeeds. The document uploads and opens normally. What the server rejects is the motion data, and it rejects the whole batch rather than the items over the cap — so the document opens with no motion at all. The videos and GIFs are gone, and so is everything that travels with them: embeds, click links, and page jumps. The add-on doesn’t check the server’s answer, so no error, no toast, nothing — you find out by opening the document.

What counts toward the cap: uploaded video files and GIFs, totalled across the whole document rather than per page. What doesn’t: YouTube and Vimeo links, embeds, click links, and page jumps — unlimited, since that media lives on someone else’s servers.

If a document comes out with its motion missing, get the count to the limit or below and export again — or swap some uploaded videos for YouTube or Vimeo links, which don’t count at all.

The check only fires when the number goes up. A document already over the cap, after a downgrade for instance, keeps its motion as long as you aren’t adding another video or GIF.

What counts as motion, and where you can change it

Only motion added on the add-on’s Insert tab is supported. Video or GIFs placed with Adobe Express’s own tools are not supported as motion, so anything that needs to move in the viewer has to go through the Insert tab. (The PowerPoint plugin is the exception: it also picks up video and GIFs inserted with PowerPoint’s own tools.)

Hyperlinks already in the design need no setup. They come across as clickable regions in the viewer.

Motion that arrived through the add-on cannot be edited on the web. The original is deliberately left intact, so the dashboard’s motion editor will not let you drag or resize those items.

You can still add new motion on the web. To change something the add-on put there, edit it in Express and run Update from the add-on.

An update treats the two differently — motion the add-on created is replaced by whatever this export produces, while motion you added on the web stays.

Try it without an account (guest mode)

You can build a link before you have a FeatPaper account.

On the export screen, fill in Your Email — it is required without an account — and click Generate New Link. Get notified covers what lands in that inbox: an alert when the document is opened.

The link is temporary, and the result screen counts it down under Link Time Left. The deadline itself comes from the server; 72 hours is what the add-on falls back to displaying when the server sends no expiry date, not a figure the server guarantees. Read the countdown rather than assuming three days.

Keep the 6-digit Import PIN shown next to the share link. It is what the Import tab asks for — here or in any other FeatPaper plugin — to pull that guest document back into an editor.

Sign in later and only your most recent guest link comes with you. The add-on keeps a list of every guest link it has made, but at sign-in it claims the last one and clears the list. Guest documents from earlier in that list stay outside your account, so if you plan to keep one, sign in before you make the next.

Import — pull a FeatPaper document back into Express

Click a document on the Home tab, then Import on the row, and the FeatPaper document is rebuilt as Adobe Express pages. It is how you pick up editing a piece someone else made.

A document sent before Import shipped cannot be pulled back. Those rows show the button greyed out: “This document was exported before Import was available.”

When a free Adobe account blocks the export

A free Adobe account runs the add-on fine, but one Adobe premium asset anywhere in the design and the export never starts.

Here is the notice you get:

Export failed — We couldn’t export your design. Some assets are only included in the Premium plan.

This is Adobe’s restriction, not FeatPaper’s. Two ways out:

• Swap every template, photo, or font marked premium for a free asset
• Upgrade your Adobe Express plan

Good to know

• There is no auto-sync. After you change the content, run the add-on again.
• To keep the link, use Update in the add-on. Click the document’s row on the Home tab and hit Update — the add-on posts a new version against the existing link, so the share link never changes and nothing has to happen in the dashboard. Clicking Create Interactive PDF again builds a separate document on a different address.
• Video and GIFs survive. Whatever you placed in Express, plus anything you added from the Insert tab, plays in the viewer. What does not come across is Express animation effects and page transitions — and, for a GIF, the Playback settings.
• Adobe Express runs in the browser, so nothing needs to be installed on your desktop.

Troubleshooting

The add-on doesn't show up

• Refresh the browser or sign back in to Adobe Express.
• Search for FeatPaper in the Add-ons menu to check its install status.

The export fails

• “Some assets are only included in the Premium plan” is an Adobe limit, not a FeatPaper one. Replace the premium assets or upgrade Adobe Express.
• Check your internet connection.
• Sign out of the FeatPaper add-on and sign back in.

Update won't go through

• Documents sent before Import shipped show a greyed-out Import button instead: “This document was exported before Import was available.”

A folder won't let you pick it

• Shared folders you cannot edit still appear, greyed out. Click one and you get “You do not have edit permission for this folder.” Ask for access or pick another folder.
• The space comes from the dashboard. Switch spaces there and reopen the add-on.

Can I upload straight from Adobe Express?

Yes. Install the FeatPaper add-on from Adobe Express Add-ons, click FeatPaper in the editor sidebar, pick a folder, then click Create Interactive PDF. You can also reach FeatPaper from the Adobe Express share menu.

Is the Adobe Express add-on free to use?

Not automatically. But click the document on the add-on’s Home tab and hit Update on the row, and the add-on posts a new version against the existing link — same address, same reading history, no trip to the dashboard.

If I send the same piece again, does it update the existing document?

Only if you use Update, which keeps the share link and the reading history intact. Create Interactive PDF always builds a separate document with its own address. Both count as one upload against your monthly limit, and a cancelled run counts as none.

Can I choose which space the document lands in?

Not from the add-on. It always uses the space you last opened in the dashboard, and you only pick the folder. Switch spaces in the dashboard first, then reopen the add-on.

Do videos and animations survive?

Videos, GIFs, and embeds do — they play in the viewer, whether you placed them in Express or added them from the Insert tab. Express animation effects and page transitions do not carry over. Nor do the Playback settings on a GIF: Autoplay, Loop, Muted, and Hide controls are written for video and skipped for GIFs.

Can I export multi-page content at once?

Yes. Each page becomes its own page of the FeatPaper document, in order.

Is there an upload size limit?

Yes. The same per-plan upload limit applies as a direct web upload: 30MB on Starter, 100MB on Pro, 300MB on Business, and a custom cap on Enterprise. See Upload a document for details.

How many videos and GIFs can one document hold?

Three on Starter, five on Pro, unlimited on Business and Enterprise — counted across the whole document, not per page. Only uploaded video files and GIFs count; YouTube and Vimeo links, embeds, click links, and page jumps don’t.

Going over doesn’t fail the export, and that’s the awkward part: the document uploads fine, but the server throws away the entire motion payload for it, so the document opens with no videos, no GIFs, and no embeds, click links, or page jumps either. The add-on never reads the server’s response, so you get no warning — the missing motion is the only symptom. Bring the count down to the limit and export again, or replace some uploaded videos with YouTube or Vimeo links, which are exempt.
