Embed a Google Sheet in a PDF

You can put a Google Sheet on a page of your PDF with FeatPaper. Paste the sheet’s link into the EMBED tab of the motion editor, and viewers see the spreadsheet inside the document. This is how you add a Google Sheet to a pitch deck or proposal and keep the numbers current without re-exporting the PDF.

  • Add a pricing or quote table to a proposal that you update in the sheet.
  • Show a live KPI table in an investor update or IR deck.
  • Share a product spec or inventory list inside a sales deck.
  • Include a schedule or roster in an event or onboarding document.

Any Google Sheets link works:

  1. Open the spreadsheet in Google Sheets.
  2. Click Share and copy the link, or use File → Share → Publish to web and copy the embed link.
  3. Check sharing. The content shows only if the file is shared as Anyone with the link or published to the web (File → Share → Publish to web → Embed). A private file shows Google’s own error inside the frame.

Google’s guides for publishing and sharing are linked under Official guides.

Open the Content tab

Open the document in FeatPaper and go to the Content tab. You need edit rights on the document to see the motion tools.

Open the motion editor

Click the Add video or link card. The full-screen motion editor opens.

Pick the page and the EMBED tab

Select the page in the left sidebar, then click the EMBED tab in the toolbar.

Paste the Google Sheets link

Paste the link into the Embed URL field and click Add. If you copied Google’s <iframe> embed code from Publish to web, you can paste the whole code.

Position and resize

Drag the frame to move it and drag the handles to resize it. Arrow keys nudge it (hold Shift for bigger steps).

Save

Click SAVE & EXIT.

  • Desktop: Google Sheets appears inside the page, right where you placed it. Viewers don’t leave the document.
  • Mobile: On a phone, the Google Sheets frame shows as a blurred card. When the viewer taps it, Google Sheets opens full screen in a bottom sheet.
  • Downloaded PDF: A PDF can’t run Google Sheets. FeatPaper replaces the frame with a thumbnail or the Google Sheets logo that links to the reading view at that page, and adds a QR code at the bottom right of the page. If you turned off the document’s QR setting, the QR code isn’t added.
  • Motion works on every plan, including Starter.
  • This embed doesn’t count toward the video and GIF limit, and there is no size limit. Only uploaded video files and GIF-tab images count.
  • The editor checks only the link format. Whether the sheet shows depends on its Google sharing settings.
  • Viewers see whatever the sheet contains right now, so changes in Google Sheets show up in the document.
  • In scroll view and in the mobile full-screen sheet, the frame runs in a sandbox that allows scripts and top-level navigation.
  • Share only what you want every viewer of the document to see. Anyone with your FeatPaper link can see the embedded sheet.
  • After a version update, motions don’t carry over on their own. When you open the editor after an update, FeatPaper asks whether to copy the previous version’s motion content to the same pages and positions.
The editor says my link isn't supported. What is wrong?

The link isn’t in a format the EMBED tab accepts. Check it against the link shape in Get the link ready above. The editor checks only the link format, so a valid link to content that isn’t shared publicly can still show an error inside the frame.

How does it look on a phone?

The frame shows as a blurred card. Tapping it opens Google Sheets full screen in a bottom sheet.

What happens when someone downloads the PDF?

The frame becomes a thumbnail or logo that links back to that page in the reading view, and a QR code is added at the bottom right of the page (unless the document’s QR setting is off).

The frame shows a Google error instead of my sheet. Why?

The sheet isn’t shared publicly. Set sharing to Anyone with the link, or publish it to the web, then reload the document.

Do edits in the sheet update the document?

Yes. The frame loads the sheet each time, so viewers see its current content. How quickly published changes appear depends on Google.

Can I show only one tab or range?

Google’s Publish to web lets you choose what to publish. Copy that embed link and paste it into the EMBED tab.
