Embed a Canva design in a PDF
Yes, you can add a Canva design to a proposal or any PDF with FeatPaper. Paste the Canva design link into the EMBED tab and FeatPaper turns it into Canva’s embedded view. Viewers see the live design, including animated or multi-page designs, right on the page.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”- A proposal that includes a Canva mood board or campaign mockup
- A sales deck with an animated Canva graphic on the key slide
- A media kit that shows sample social posts made in Canva
- An event pack with a Canva poster or schedule
Get the link ready
Section titled “Get the link ready”FeatPaper accepts Canva design links in this form:
https://www.canva.com/design/XXXXXXXX/XXXXXXXX/...FeatPaper converts the link to Canva’s embed view (/view?embed) for you.
- Open the design in Canva.
- Click Share.
- Look for the embed or public view link option (it may sit under More).
- Copy the link and paste it into FeatPaper.
Canva’s help center has the current steps for both options. See Official guides below.
Add it in FeatPaper
Section titled “Add it in FeatPaper”Open the Content tab
Open your document in FeatPaper and go to the Content tab. Only people with edit rights see the editor.
Open the editor
Click the Add video or link card. The motion editor opens full screen.
Pick the page and the EMBED tab
Select the page in the left sidebar, then click EMBED in the toolbar.
Paste the Canva link
Paste the link into the Embed URL field and click Add. FeatPaper converts it to Canva’s embed view automatically.
Place and resize it
The design lands in the middle of the page at half the page width, in a 16:9 frame. Drag it to move it and drag the handles to resize. The ratio isn’t locked, so you can make it taller or wider.
Save
Click SAVE & EXIT.
What viewers see
Section titled “What viewers see”- Desktop: The Canva design shows on the page. Multi-page designs and animations show the way Canva presents them.
- Mobile: On a phone, the Canva area shows as a blurred card. Tapping it opens Canva full screen in a bottom sheet, so it stays usable on a small screen.
- Downloaded PDF: A PDF can’t run an embed. FeatPaper puts the Canva logo in its place, linked to that page of the shared link, and adds a QR code at the bottom right of the page. If you turn off the document’s QR setting, the QR code isn’t added.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Embeds don’t count toward any plan limit and have no size limit. You can use them on every plan, Starter included.
- FeatPaper checks only the link format when you click Add. Whether content appears depends on the sharing settings in Canva.
- You can also paste iframe embed code. FeatPaper pulls out the
src="…"address, as long as it uses double quotes. - After a version update, motions don’t carry over on their own. When you open the editor, FeatPaper asks whether to copy the previous version’s motion content to the same pages and positions.
- The embed reflects the design in Canva. If you edit it there, viewers see the update.
- If Canva shows an error inside the frame, the link is probably not a public view or embed link. Copy it again from Canva’s embed option.
Frequently asked questions
Section titled “Frequently asked questions”I pasted the link and got "The embed URL is not supported". What should I check?
The link isn’t in a format FeatPaper accepts for Canva. Go back to Canva and copy the link described in Get the link ready above, then paste it again.
How does it look on a phone?
Viewers see a blurred card on the page. One tap opens Canva full screen in a bottom sheet.
What happens if someone downloads the PDF?
The embed can’t play inside a PDF. The Canva logo takes its place and links to that page of the shared link, and a QR code appears at the bottom right of the page.
Can I use the link from my browser's address bar?
Use the embed or public view link from Canva’s Share menu. FeatPaper converts any design link to Canva’s view mode, but the design only shows if Canva lets others view it.
Should I just export my Canva design as a PDF instead?
You can do both. Upload the exported PDF as the document, then embed the animated or interactive parts with this method so they stay live.
