Embed Google Docs or Slides in a PDF
You can place a Google Doc or a Google Slides deck on a page of your PDF with FeatPaper. Paste the link into the EMBED tab of the motion editor, and viewers read the doc or click through the slides inside the document. Use it to add supporting material to a sales deck or proposal without attaching extra files.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”- Put the detailed terms or scope of work, kept in a Google Doc, inside a proposal.
- Embed a short Google Slides deck with a case study inside a sales deck.
- Add a living FAQ or policy doc to an onboarding document.
- Show an agenda doc inside an event invitation.
Get the link ready
Section titled “Get the link ready”Any Google Docs or Google Slides link works:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/FILE_ID/edithttps://docs.google.com/presentation/d/FILE_ID/edithttps://docs.google.com/presentation/d/e/PUBLISHED_ID/embed- Open the file in Google Docs or Google Slides.
- Click Share and copy the link, or use File → Share → Publish to web → Embed and copy the embed link.
- Check sharing. The content shows only if the file is shared as Anyone with the link or published to the web (File → Share → Publish to web → Embed). A private file shows Google’s own error inside the frame.
Google’s guides for publishing and sharing are linked under Official guides.

What viewers see
Section titled “What viewers see”- Desktop: Google Docs or Slides appears inside the page, right where you placed it. Viewers don’t leave the document.
- Mobile: On a phone, the Google Docs or Slides frame shows as a blurred card. When the viewer taps it, Google Docs or Slides opens full screen in a bottom sheet.
- Downloaded PDF: A PDF can’t run Google Docs or Slides. FeatPaper replaces the frame with a thumbnail or the Google Docs or Slides logo that links to the reading view at that page, and adds a QR code at the bottom right of the page. If you turned off the document’s QR setting, the QR code isn’t added.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Motion works on every plan, including Starter.
- This embed doesn’t count toward the video and GIF limit, and there is no size limit. Only uploaded video files and GIF-tab images count.
- The editor checks only the link format. A private file shows Google’s “file not found”-style error in the frame.
- Published Slides can use Google’s own player controls inside the frame.
- In scroll view and in the mobile full-screen sheet, the frame runs in a sandbox that allows scripts and top-level navigation.
- Anyone with your FeatPaper link can see the embedded file, so share only what they should see.
- After a version update, motions don’t carry over on their own. When you open the editor after an update, FeatPaper asks whether to copy the previous version’s motion content to the same pages and positions.
Frequently asked questions
Section titled “Frequently asked questions”The editor says my link isn't supported. What is wrong?
The link isn’t in a format the EMBED tab accepts. Check it against the link shape in Get the link ready above. The editor checks only the link format, so a valid link to content that isn’t shared publicly can still show an error inside the frame.
How does it look on a phone?
The frame shows as a blurred card. Tapping it opens Google Docs or Slides full screen in a bottom sheet.
What happens when someone downloads the PDF?
The frame becomes a thumbnail or logo that links back to that page in the reading view, and a QR code is added at the bottom right of the page (unless the document’s QR setting is off).
My doc shows "file not found" in the frame. What should I do?
The file isn’t shared publicly. Set sharing to Anyone with the link, or publish it to the web.
Should I use the Share link or Publish to web?
Either works. Publish to web gives a cleaner, read-only view without the Google editing interface.
