Send per-recipient document links with lemlist
When you send a newsletter or announcement with lemlist, you don't need a separate link per recipient. Drop in the one link FeatPaper gives you and lemlist swaps the tag inside it for each recipient's email as it sends, so you can see exactly who opened the document.
The steps below follow the actual screens in lemlist's own documentation. The originals are linked under Official guides at the bottom of this page.
Copy the link from FeatPaper
Section titled “Copy the link from FeatPaper”- Open the Share tab on your FeatPaper document.
- In the Integrations section below, click the Bulk email sending row.
- In the Send with your email tool dialog, click Copy link on the lemlist row. Each tool uses a different tag, so always copy from its own row.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- A lemlist campaign
- An email column named email in your lead CSV
- The lemlist link copied from FeatPaper
Add the link in lemlist
Section titled “Add the link in lemlist”- Upload leads to the campaign. CSV column headers become variable names, so keep the email column named email.
- In the sequence editor, select the text you want to link and click the link button.
- Paste the FeatPaper link into the link input field. Don't write the address as plain body text, or clicks won't be tracked properly.
- Leave
{{email}}in the link. lemlist variables are case sensitive, so keep it lowercase. - Send a test to confirm the substitution, then launch the campaign.
Check that it worked
Section titled “Check that it worked”- Open the document from the link in the email you received.
- On the FeatPaper document, go to the Visitors tab and look under Dedicated link visitors for the address you just opened.
- A lemlist tag next to the email means the sending tool was recorded too.
If it doesn't work
Section titled “If it doesn't work”The variable shows up unreplaced
Check that the CSV header is exactly email and that there are no spaces inside the braces. Case matters too.
Clicks aren't being tracked
The address has to go in the link input field, not the body text. Click tracking also requires a validated custom tracking domain.
What about leads with no value?
You can add a fallback after a pipe, like {{email|there}}. For an email address a fallback isn't meaningful, so it's better to exclude leads without one.
